The FBM KLCI index gained 8.89 points or 0.53% on Thursday. The Finance Index increased 0.09% to 16692 points, the Properties Index up 0.56% to 905.03 points and the Plantation Index down 1.19% to 6970.75 points. Read More

The FBM KLCI index gained 8.89 points or 0.53% on Thursday. The Finance Index increased 0.09% to 16692 points, the Properties Index up 0.56% to 905.03 points and the Plantation Index down 1.19% to 6970.75 points. The market traded within a range of 14.60 points between an intra-day high of 1675.43 and a low of 1660.83 during the session.

Actively traded stocks include GREATEC, IWCITY, HSI-H6Q, PHB, BORNOIL, EKOVEST, HSI-C5J, MESTRON, DAYANG and PERDANA. Trading volume decreased to 2267.43 mil shares worth RM2279.99 mil as compared to Wednesday’s 2421.48 mil shares worth RM2335.17 mil.

Leading Movers were TENAGA (+60 sen to RM13.88), GENTING (+23 sen to RM6.91), MAXIS (+13 sen to RM5.75), IHH (+12 sen to RM5.76) and RHBBANK (+8 sen to RM5.59). Lagging Movers were SIMEPLT (-22 sen to RM4.78), IOICORP (-4 sen to RM4.33), CIMB (-3 sen to RM5.23), HLFG (-10 sen to RM18.48) and SIME (-1 sen to RM2.28). Market breadth was positive with 468 gainers as compared to 353 losers.

The KLCI closed higher at 1675.43 points amid yesterday’s gains in US market. The performance of our local bourse was in tandem with most of our regional peers following China’s President Xi Jinping visited North Korea, days before Xi is set to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at the G-20 summit.

PLCs New Sector Classification Effective 24 September 2018

Mid and Small Cap PLCs Eligible for Stamp Duty Exemption

The stamp duty exemption will be applicable for trading of companies listed on Bursa Malaysia Securities with a market capitalization ranging between RM200 million and RM2 billion as at 31 December 2017 for eligibility in 2018. For eligibility in 2019 until 2021, the companies will be based on their market capitalization as at 31 December 2018, 2019 and 2020 respectively. The list of companies will be static until the annual review.
